1. Product

Sérac Aero SA-1, a carbon fibre ski roof box, 2100 × 960 × 395 mm, 19 kg, rated load 75 kg, rear-opening lid with two gas springs, 5 latch points and a key lock. It mounts on standard aero or square crossbars with four clamps (2 × M8 each, 10 N·m), crossbar spacing 605 to 755 mm.

The box will be sold in the EU under the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988. We want a type test to ISO 11154:2023 (roof load carriers) as the basis of the technical file, with a test report we can quote in the manual and on the label.

T1Static load: rated load 75 kg × safety factor, deflection and residual deformation of floor, clamps and crossbarsISO 11154:2023box mounted on a representative crossbar set supplied by us
T2Clamp retention: longitudinal, lateral and vertical pull on the mounted boxISO 11154:2023report slip force and failure mode
T3City Crash: 30 km/h and 50 km/h deceleration sled test with the box loaded to 75 kg, forward and lateralISO 11154:2023 "city crash" / DIN 75302pass criterion: box and load stay on the vehicle, no part of the box or load leaves the roof area
T4Lid: pressure or lift test representing 200 km/h airflow, lock and latches engagedISO 11154:2023we expect ~600 N lift resultant, latch reaction max 130 N (our FEA)

5. Questions

  1. Which standard editions and sled profiles do you test to (ISO 11154:2023, DIN 75302, your own)?
  2. Lead time from receipt of samples to report.
  3. Cost per test and for the full package, and whether a retest after a design change is priced lower.
  4. Do you need the box mounted by us, or will your technicians mount it per our manual (preferred, as a usability check)?
